Facebook is celebrating Friends Day by letting you create superlatives for your friends Mark Zuckerburg founded Facebook on February 4th in his dorm room at Harvard, and the company celebrates the anniversary with its self-proclaimed “Friends Day.” As it has in the past, the company is allowing users to commemorate the day by singling out friends and this year, users can give one another a “Friend Award,” with a variety of superlatives such as “Always Has My Back,” “Big-Hearted”, “Bestie,” and more. The feature allows you to select a friend, their picture, and a template with a variety of descriptive options. The final result features the image with a bit of animation that you can post to your wall.

The dog - like robot is able to walk on four legs and has an extendable arm to reach out and grab objects. In the case of its latest trick, its arm reaches out pulls a door handle and then maneuvers its body to hold the door open so it can pass through.

There's now no way to hide from the robot apocalypse.

Boston Dynamics' robots are the politest 'pets' you'll meet

Boston Dynamics' robots are the politest 'pets' you'll meet We hope you weren't planning on sleeping tonight. Boston Dynamics has posted a video showing that its SpotMini robot can hold the door open for its fellow automatons. If you're a tad more trusting, this is good news. Robots have typically only had limited cooperation with each other, and this hints at more advanced team-ups where robots can supplement each others' abilities and accomplish more than they would by themselves. That could be helpful for search and rescue missions, or any situation where it would be impractical to equip every robot with the same features. It's a positive move -- so long as the robots remain friendly.

Marc Raibert, founder of Boston Dynamics, is developing advanced robots that can gallop like a cheetah, negotiate 10 inches of snow, walk upright on two legs and even open doors and deliver packages. Join Raibert for a live demo of SpotMini, a nimble robot that maps the space around it

Robotics design firm Boston Dynamics has shown off its advanced technology in a chilling new video.

The clip, posted to YouTube, shows off a new feature on its dog-like robot, SpotMini.

One yellow dogbot approaches the door - only to be stumped by the closed door.

Fortunately, it has a friend. Another yellow SpotMini marches up and uses a claw mount on its head to reach out and open the handle. It then holds the door open for its friend to enter.

The video has drawn comparisons with an episode from hit sci-fi TV show Black Mirror, which features robotic dogs hunting down humanity.
