Cooper is being paid $650,000 by RA and Queensland to play club rugby in Brisbane after being frozen out by Reds head coach Brad Thorn.

This alone wouldn't rule him out of a return to the Australian fold, Cheika said, but Cooper's refusal to entertain interest from the Rebels and Brumbies is a dealbreaker.

"If he hadn't had the opportunity to go and play Super Rugby I would say yes [to picking him out of club rugby] because fair enough, it's not his fault, but he's being offered opportunities and I think he should take them," he said.

Folau considering leaving Waratahs

Folau considering leaving Waratahs Israel Folau is set to leave the NSW Waratahs if he decides to re-sign with Rugby Australia. According to News Corp, Folau might be on the move if he stays in the game, with a potential landing spot being the Queensland Reds. This all comes after Folau’s wife Maria took aim at the Waratahs for moving him to the wing for the final stages of their match against Auckland on Saturday. The Wallabies fullback has reportedly spoken to Reds coach Brad Thorn about a move north but there are a few obstacles in the way.

Hurricanes forward Gareth Evans has escaped with a warning for his neck roll on Brumbies and Wallabies star David Pocock during the Super RUgby clash in Canberra. And Brad Thorn is not going to play Quade Cooper . End of story- especially as Michael Cheika isn't Cooper 's No 1 fan either.

"But he's been offered opportunities and I think he should take one – and I would like him to take one of them so he can get up there and be in the position."

Cooper appears set, however, to continue plying his trade for Brisbane Souths.

"I want to be clear," said Cheika on Fox Sports. "I've been watching his club footy games. It's been really good actually. The standard of the comp in Brisbane - because I've been watching more games for that reason - it's been outstanding.

Rugby - Brumbies would welcome Reds exile Cooper, says Powell

Rugby - Brumbies would welcome Reds exile Cooper, says Powell Quade Cooper remains a highly paid exile at the Queensland Reds but ACT Brumbies scrumhalf Joe Powell says the former Australia flyhalf would be warmly welcomed in Canberra. Cooper has been frozen out at the Reds since former All Blacks enforcer Brad Thorn took over as coach in the off-season and the 30-year-old has been plying his trade in the wilds of Brisbane club rugby. "He's a guy with a lot of experience and he would teach the younger guys a lot of things," three-cap Wallaby Powell told local media on Tuesday."We'd be happy to have him if he was to come.

Quade Cooper has been omitted from Michael Cheika ’s extended Wallabies squad ahead of next month’s Bledisloe Cup opener against the All Blacks. It is because the Cheetahs and Kings have been judged not good enough for Super Rugby although both have play some decent rugby this year.

Quade Cooper enthralls and frustrates in Super Rugby . The Tahs coach, Michael Cheika , cut a bitter figure post-match – very proud of his players is so talented he could play across the backline, it's unlikely he would want to play Super rugby in anything other than his most likely Wallaby position.

"But (he needs to) even just go and get a couple of games at the (Super Rugby) pace. It goes up a level so then, when it comes to the Test, you'll be ready to go. He has to have form on the board, like all players."

Thorn, in his first year as a Super Rugby coach, banished Cooper from the Queensland squad before a ball was even kicked this season and has repeatedly said the Reds were "going in a different direction".

Cheika is adamant he won't intervene, not only on the Cooper conundrum but with any selection issues involving Australia's four Super Rugby sides.

"If we want to start to build a proper type of collaboration, where the national team's involved with the states, you've got to trust and respect what the coaches are doing as well," Cheika said. "So if he's (Thorn) saying there's no way he's coming back in, I trust him."

Comment: Why the Wallabies can't afford to underestimate a red-hot Ireland .
Ireland are coming and they will be one of the most experienced and successful Test sides to visit Australian shores.Whether through a paucity of Test match-ups or a southern hemisphere bias, Wallabies supporters have had a dangerous tendency to either underestimate the quality of the Irish or overestimate the quality of any given Australian Test line-up.
