So far, the fan reaction is pretty bewildered, and it ’ s hard to blame them; this is a deep cut from Bachelor Nation’s past. So why did Bachelor producers have to dig so far back into their arsenal this time? Well, while Rachel Lindsay’s Bachelorette season was historic, it also failed to produce

This week, we will see the culmination of Matty J’s journey as 2017’s Bachelor, when he chooses either Laura Byrne, Elise Stacy or Tara Pavlovic as the woman he plans to spend the rest of his life with.

Matty, a 30-year-old marketing manager from Sydney, knows firsthand what it’s like to have your heart broken on national television. It happened to him almost a year ago, when he met with Georgia Love on the rooftop of a hotel in Singapore, hopeful that she would tell him that he was the one she wanted. Alas, she told him that she was in love with someone else—a devastating blow to a man who’d put his heart on the line in one of the most unusual circumstances.

There's already a frontrunner for the next Bachelorette that has fans buzzing — Rachel Lindsay. If you're unfamiliar, it ' s tradition on the show for one woman who stands above the rest to get the first "I work hard for my clients, I work hard for my firm," Lindsay said in her " Bachelor " introduction, "but

But it didn’t turn out so bad for Matty in the end! He became the second Australian contestant on The Bachelorette to step into the lead role’s shoes, following on from Richie Strahan, who was our TV Bachelor in 2016.

Sure, your feelings towards Matty may have shifted a bit, especially if you were one of his biggest fans when he was on The Bachelorette—we’re sure it’s a completely different experience to be one of 20 men trying to win one woman’s heart, and to then go through it from the other side. But hey, at least he had that shot. If anything, Richie and Matty are two out of three people in Australia who have had the fullest Bachelor and Bachelorette experience you could possibly have (unless Bachelor in Paradise makes its way down under, and we don’t see that happening any time soon).

I Auditioned for This Season of ' The Bachelor ' and It Was Truly Insane. From sobbing girls to unlimited drinks to a wildly personal interview. Last year, I joined a sea of giddy women in flirty sundresses and auditioned for The Bachelor . Bachelorette contestant Peter Kraus, looking very happy to be here.

The third person is Sam Frost, Australia’s inaugural Bachelorette. Sam was the perfect woman to assume this role for the first time because her Bachelor story is one for the history books.

Sam was a contestant on the show’s second season, when Blake Garvey, a deep-voiced real estate agent from Perth, was the Bachelor. Sam, who was super real and relatable, made it all the way to the end. Blake even proposed to her during the finale, which was filmed in Africa. Unlike the American version, there’s no expectation that the finale should have a proposal, so this was a big deal. Sam said yes. We thought we’d seen one of the happiest endings possible.

The Bachelorette casting call is out and it's led to a huge conspiracy theory. Casting for Season Three of The Bachelorette Australia has opened with a rather unusual addition. The call out came via a post on the television show’s official Instagram account with a caption that asked followers to tag their eligible friends.

Most of us know what happened next. The Friday morning after the finale aired on Channel Ten, something was amiss. Media weren’t allowed to interview Blake, Sam or Lisa Hyde, the show’s runner-up, which is the standard publicity plan. It soon went public that Blake had broken up with Sam in the time between when the finale was filmed and when it aired, and that he had rekindled his romance with Louise Pillidge, the show’s second runner-up. It was quite the scandal!

So, you can see why Sam was the obvious choice when it came to casting Australia’s first Bachelorette. Her story came full circle. She was finally the one calling the shots, and in the end, she chose Sasha Mielczarek, a handsome construction manager from down the coast. It was the perfect ending for Sam. Unfortunately, 18 months later, Sam and Sasha called it quits, and she’s now dating someone she’s been friends with for years.

Since then, there have been several contestants from The Bachelor who people believe deserve a second chance at love, but on their own terms. There was a big push from fans to make Nikki Gogan, the Perth-based real estate agent whose heart Richie broke, the next Bachelorette. But following on from Richie’s season, Channel Ten and Warner Bros. cast Georgia Love, someone from outside the existing Bachelor bubble, as the 2016 Bachelorette.

Keira Maguire hints at making a Bachie comeback this year, and YES PLEASE. The words "Keira Maguire" and "Bachelorette 2017" just keep cropping up alongside each other lately. And the popular, ratings-baiting reality star is making sure of it.As producers of the juggernaut Channel 10 dating show finalise casting for this year’s season, the Bachelor 2016 alum shared a meme to Instagram last night that reads:“Me: why is everyone together and I’m single? Also me: declines every date, takes 3-5 business days to reply, never smiles, cannot parallel park.

As for why The Bachelorette is so dull, especially compared to its Bachelor counterpart, it ’ s complicated. This urgency and desperation fuels the fire for The Bachelor ’s contestants. A bunch of men competing for one woman —no matter how fabulous she is —just doesn’t work.

I came to two things she can’t do: Take hard drugs or be a contestant on The Bachelor . But what does it say about Nick, how utterly boring this season is , how not into human women Nick acts if we are just going to announce one of the women getting hometowns is the next Bachelorette ?

That was last year, though. Surely, if Nikki hadn’t found love in the real world this year, she would have been an obvious choice for 2017? Nope—the honour has gone to Sophie Monk this time, which is history-making in its own way as she will be the first celebrity Bachelorette in the world.

Here’s the thing: the current production cycle of the Australian versions of The Bachelor and The Bachelorette doesn’t really allow for a contestant on The Bachelor to become the next Bachelorette. Unlike America—which airs the two versions of the show back-to-back pretty much all year round, with a season of Bachelor in Paradise thrown in every now and then—Australia only airs one season of The Bachelor and The Bachelorette a year.

It’s always The Bachelor first, followed by The Bachelorette—and this is why it’s been so easy for a man on The Bachelorette to make the transition from contestant to suitor. Not much time has lapsed, so they’re still relevant, and people are still invested in them. With a few months of downtime between filming, it’s the perfect amount of time to get over heartbreak and then emotionally prepare to do the heart-breaking.

But the timing isn’t fair for the women. It’s been over a year since Nikki was last on our screens—would people care as much about her love life after such a huge gap in time? The momentum is gone.

The Bachelorette has just made history, and it's time we all sit up and take notice.

The Bachelorette has just made history, and it's time we all sit up and take notice. The US version of The Bachelorette has just announced Rachel Lindsay will star as the leading lady of the upcoming 13th Season. Lindsay, 31, who appeared on The US Bachelor‘s most recent season, was always considered a fan favourite despite not ultimately winning her suitor’s heart.

When The Bachelor premiered in 2002, featuring 25 women competing for the heart of one man, a Washington Post critic asked: “ Why are I agree — it ’ s hard to chalk that up to anything else when you have such a difference between JoJo [Fletcher, the star of the 12th season of The Bachelorette ]

Bachelor contestant Bekah M. reveals the most annoying thing about Arie Luyendyk, Jr., and why she'd ultimately say yes to being the next Bachelorette . The other thing is I didn't want to compare my relationship to any of the other women there. It seems when people do that on the show, they go

The same thing will probably happen to one of the three girls Matty doesn’t pick, particularly Tara, who is undeniably the fan favourite. If Matty doesn’t choose her, the consolation prize could be a whole show of Tara starring on The Bachelorette! But it just doesn’t seem to work with this production schedule.

Really, Australia is so far behind its American counterpart when it comes to this, but after a million seasons they really are in a different league.

It’s just a shame to think that women we’re already invested in, who we know are great TV talent, has less of a chance of being the next Bachelorette compared to a man.

But hey, it’s all about timing. And sometimes that’s the biggest problem when it comes to finding love, isn’t it?

Matty J should be the next Bachelor, because his real story never made it to TV. .
It’s no secret that last year’s runner-up on The Bachelorette has a red hot chance of being this year’s The Bachelor. Marketing manager Matty J has already proven that he is the whole package. He’s sweet, charming and able to communicate those traits on cue.
