  Ski instructor accused of rape denied bail A British man charged with the aggravated sexual assault of a woman and attack on her male friend in the NSW Snowy Mountains has been denied bail.A British man who was working as a resort ski instructor in the NSW Snowy Mountains remains behind bars over an alleged sexual attack on a woman and an assault on her male friend.

A 49-year-old skier from Santa Rosa died after an accident last Wednesday at Heavenly Ski Resort in South Lake Tahoe, the Eldorado County Sheriff’s Office said.

BRECKENRIDGE — The skier who died after colliding with a tree at Breckenridge Ski Resort on Thursday morning, March 8, has been identified as Derek Cressey, 38, of Windham, Maine, the Summit County Coroner's Office confirmed Friday afternoon.

The woman was on the slopes at Perisher in the Snowy Mountains.

“The alpine community of Perisher is saddened by the tragic death of a female skier who died this morning while skiing at Perisher Ski Resort,” the resort said in a statement.

“Perisher Ski Patrol and NSW Ambulance staff promptly attended the scene.

“The Perisher community is very upset by this terrible accident and we extend our heartfelt condolences to the lady’s family and friends.”

A NSW police spokeswoman said emergency services were called around 10.40am after reports a person was injured.

“Paramedics treated the person but they died at the scene. Initial enquiries suggest the person suffered a medical episode and a report will be prepared for the Coroner.”

A NSW Ambulance spokesman said they attended the scene on Pretty Valley Road in the Kosciusko National Park after reports of a cardiac arrest.

“We tried to resuscitate unsuccessfully,” he said.
