Christopher Josevski was a controlling and possessive boyfriend, smashing his partner’s phone after quizzing her about spending too much time with friends.

The court heard he stored his girlfriend Rita Iliopoulos's number in his phone under the name, “Hitler’s Evil Sister’.

In February last year he kidnapped Ms Iliopoulos and unleashed a brutal assault on her in full view of the public.

The terrified 24 year old tried to use a phone at a Derrimut service station, in Melbourne’ west, to call for help but didn’t make it; Josevski punched her in the face, kneed her to the head and dragged her by the hair in the horrific attack.

Police found the victim the next morning and arrested the 25 year old.

He was bailed just days later, but then returned to custody for further offending.

Ms Iliopoulos was left with a broken nose and swelling and bruising.

Josevski pleaded guilty to causing her injury and kidnapping, his barrister telling the judge the disgraceful assault was in the context of a brief but volatile and toxic relationship in which both were drug users.

His defence said the painter is remorseful and the year he’s spent in custody has been sobering, but provided no explanation for the domestic violence.

The judge who will sentence Josevski gave him a stern warning today stating, “what he need not do is monster women, smack them around and punch them”.

He will learn how much longer he’ll spend behind bars when he is sentenced on Friday.

Ms Iliopoulos wasn’t in court today, still too traumatised by the attack, and she wasn’t able to articulate the impact the crime has had on her.

It’s understood she continues to require counselling and hasn’t returned to work.
