Brian Ward walked from court copping a 12-month good behaviour bond for an explosive road rage tirade against an elderly driver.

He lashed out at 9NEWS outside court, saying: "Get out of my face or I’ll have you charged with harassment."

On June 17, the cyclist was riding along Sydney Road in Brunswick when his victim, a 61-year-old woman, was preparing to pull out into traffic.

Ward was forced to swerve slightly but that’s when he immediately stopped riding, got off his bike and confronted the woman.

Shocked witnesses felt compelled to intervene, trying to calm the Fitzroy man down.

The woman Ward abused was given an infringement for using a mobile phone while driving.

He represented himself and argued that the word 'f---' shouldn’t be considered obscene.  

"Given how subjective and vague the charge is, the concept of obscenity is not defined by the law," he said.

At 2.30am, two men forced their way into the Sumners Road business by smashing the glass doors. Brian Ward walked from court copping a 12 month good behaviour bond for an explosive road rage tirade against an elderly driver.

But Magistrate Jon Klestadt wasn’t convinced, addressing Ward in the courtroom.

“If President Trump can get away with abusing or making foul comments about females.... and call it locker room banter, I would have thought it demonstrates it's all about context... what's regarded as obscene in one place will not be regarded as obscene in another," he said.

Despite trying to justify his actions, the unemployed offender pleaded guilty to the charge.

The Magistrate sentenced him to a 12-month good behaviour bond.

As he left court, he didn’t respond to questions about whether he regretted his actions.

Aside from threatening to charge 9NEWS with harassment, the only comment he made was: "Read the court transcript. I won."
