The CCTV showed the victim was not wearing any shoes, and as he attempted to put them on, Namaibai leaned over the pub's railing to speak to him.

The statement of facts said the victim was highly intoxicated, stumbling and did not know Namaibai or his friends.

A short time later an underage friend of Namaibai punched the victim in the head in a minor altercation before the pub's security diffused the situation and advised the victim to leave and take a taxi from across the road.

But the security vision showed Namaibai followed the victim across the road and spoke with him.

After a brief conversation the victim attempted to punch Namaibai, which resulted in a violent retaliation by Namaibai and two of his friends.

Namaibai was seen on CCTV punching the victim to the ground and attempting to kick and stomp him while the victim covered his face with his arms.

Security and bystanders stepped in, but Namaibai pushed past them to deliver one final stomp on the man's head, a blow which left him unconscious on the pavement.

Brain bleed, fractured skull among injuries

The victim required surgery and spent six days in hospital with a brain bleed and fractured skull.

Justice Judith Kelly will sentence Namaibai next Tuesday for what she described as "extremely serious offending".

"Any sentence will need to send a strong message to Mr Namaibai and the community that this kind of behaviour is totally unacceptable and will not be tolerated by the court," she told the hearing.

Namaibai's solicitor Shane McMaster said his client had anger management and alcohol dependency issues after growing up in tough environment.

The offender was four months into a suspended sentence for another violent incident at the time of the Mitchell Street incident.

The two other males arrested over the incident, one who is a minor, have also pleaded guilty.
