It means liquidators FTI Consulting are unlikely to follow through with threats to have Mr Palmer held in contempt of court, after they grew frustrated with their investigation being stalled.Mr Palmer was ordered to be in the Federal Court on Thursday, but was coy about whether he would turn up.FTI Consulting is investigating the collapse of Queensland Nickel, which accumulated about $300 million in debts and left about 800 employees out of work.

Authorities said the man was found with critical injuries in a home in the Mount Isa suburb of Happy Valley about 4:00am.

The man, who could not be revived, died in the low-set house in Emerald Street.

Police said the cause of death was yet to be determined but they were treating it as suspicious.

A crime scene has been declared and detectives have been at the home.

Neighbour Sarah Jones said she was woken by a siren at 4:00am, but otherwise heard nothing.

Ms Jones said she found the news quite distressing.

Two people have been assisting officers but no charges have yet been laid.

Police said they were trying to contact his next of kin.

A Christmas gathering has turned deadly after the body of a man was discovered inside a Byron Bay home. Emergency services were called to the property at 11.30 last night to reports of a possible assault.There they found a 28-year-old man had collapsed and couldn’t be revived.Officers are treating the death as suspicious.“Very early stages of our investigation at the moment so we’re just methodically going through the scene there and just trying to work out exactly what transpired on that night,” Brendon Cullen from NSW Police told 9NEWS.Anyone with information is asked to contact police.
